A snow-laden day at the Marshall University Shawkey Student Union reminescent of the day The Blue Beats performed on campus.
The Shawkey Student Union building on the Marshall University campus was a favorite venue for many local bands. The Blue Beats performed twice in this original building prior to its demolition in 1971 to make way for a more modern facility.
Marshall Fraternities and Sororities Always Supported Local Bands

Located in secluded Spring Valley, the Camp Mad Anthony Wayne facility was a favorite off-campus site for Marshall University fraternities and sororities to hold events. The Blue Beats performed twice at this venue, the most memorable being an Alpha Xi Delta sorority sponsored St. Valentine's Day party.  Although the night was icy and snow-laden outside, flaming fireplaces, inspired dancing, and numerous refreshments helped to heat-up the night inside.

Two chimneys are visible on this close-up view of the Camp Mad Anthony Wayne hall. Both fireplaces were put to good use on icy winter days.
